DOSAKAYA TOMATO PAPPU/YELLOW CUCUMBER TOMATO PAPPU

  • 1/2 CUP KANDHI PAPPU/TOOR DAL
  • 1 DOSAKAYA/YELLOW CUCUMBER (PEEL IT AND CHOP AS SMALL CUBES)
  • 3 TOMATO (WELL CHOPPED)
  • 6 GREEN CHILIES (WELL SLICED)
  • TAMARIND (PINCH)
  • OIL
  • 1/2 tbsp MUSTARD SEEDS
  • 1/2 tbsp JEERA/CUMIN SEEDS
  • 8 CURRY LEAVES
  • 4 GARLIC CLOVES
  • 1 ONION (WELL CHOPPED)
  • 2 RED CHILIES
  • 1 tbsp TURMERIC POWDER
  • 2 tbsp RED CHILLY POWDER
  • SALT (PER TASTE)
  1. Take Kandhi pappu /Toor Dal during a bowl and wash it properly for 2 or 3 times and soak it for half hour.

    Now wash dosakaya/yellow cucumber in running water and peel it and take away seeds and dig small cubes.

    Take tomatoes and chop them and slice green chilies.

    Now take a pressure cooker and add chopped dosakaya,tomatoes,green chilies ,turmeric powder and red chilli powder and wash tamarind and add it too and cook it for 4 to five whistles.

    After five minutes take it and mash it well and add salt and mash it carefully and transfer into other bowl.

     

    Now take another pan for tempering and add oil and warmth it during a low flame and add crushed garlic cloves,mustard seeds,cumin seeds,red chillies and curry leaves and await second to splutter and add well chopped onion and stir it until onion turns into light brownish.

    Now switch of the flame and add it to the Pappu within the bowl. Serve it with plain rice or chapathi/roti.
